We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - Jimmypoo - 02-10-2006 WE, as in all of us, not WE, as in this household. I did, however, SAVE $21 billion by not ordering the aircraft carrier task group I was considering. I guess it was xmas?? This is a tax vs. spending, not a trade surplus. (that will probably never happen!) Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - SteveJobs - 02-10-2006 Gotta start somewhere. Congratulations everybody. Let's see how good we can do next quarter. Don't buy that shi++y foreign crap! Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - Guitarman - 02-10-2006 And to get there, the middle class spent at twice the rate that they were earning, going even deeper in debt and thus speeding up the transfer of wealth to the rich. Good thinking folks. Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - mattkime - 02-10-2006 >>speeding up the transfer of wealth to the rich. isn't that what makes the economy grow? ![]() Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - trisho. - 02-10-2006 If only they could put the $21 billion surplus back where they got it, you know, like education, Medicare, Social Services, college financial aid, or feeding the poor... Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - Z - 02-10-2006 But trisho - those things obviously aren't important! Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - kap - 02-10-2006 Middle class? We still have middle class? I thought that social-eco division has gone with dotcom bust. Kap Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - Jimmypoo - 02-10-2006 this was just receipts in vs money spent. No Robbing peter (b) to pay paul (f.) And it was not trade balance, it was budget $$$. basically taxes collected. That trade balance is only going to change when we discover more oil in our 51st state. (I heard we're going to make all of British Columbia the 51st state just to shorten the pipeline.) Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - D-Rod - 02-10-2006 Hey Jimmy, good play on posters names! Dennis R Re: We had a $21 billion surplus in January. - Racer X - 02-11-2006 trisho. One term as president, and you are set for life, regardless of how crappy of a job you do. |
