Whaa ? Kids and +"Gang Signs" - cbelt3 - 11-29-2007
Driving behind a busload of elementary school kids in my rather *cough* undiverse subdivision this morning, and a couple of little girls- perhaps 7 or 8, flash me 'gang signs' (you know, the 'sideways peace sign').
So I replied with the old Vulcan "Live Long and Prosper".
Which was the right thing to do, because they were giggling and trying to duplicate it for the next two miles.
So is is 'cool' to act like you belong to a vicious criminal enterprise?

We have been using the Vulcan sign at home lately, too.
I think the peace sign is just a remnant of that time. When I was a kid, I thought the term COOL would die, but it hasn't.

laf- you're thinking about the Windows User's Group "Three Finger Salute" sign. (Ctrl-Alt-Del for the Mac only users here).
Of course the reset PRAM Command-Option-P-R still gets the 'twister' award for weirdness.

My wife works in an area that actually does have gangs. She as learned alot about gangs from her students and the police that occasionally arrest them. I'm not sure if I'll get this right, but originally, on the west coast at least, there were two gangs. One came from near the border of Mexico and the other came from farther south. The police in the jails learned that it was like trying to keep cats and mice in the same cage. They had to be separated. They dressed one gang in blue and one in red so that they could tell which was which. Things only got worse from there...
