iMac Max Ram - Rolando - 11-30-2007

I've got a iMac CD2 2.16GHz, came with 1 GB (2x512).

Max ram listed is 3 (2+1)Gb. Will 2x2GB even fit, and if so, will 4GB be seen by the iMac?

2. What to do w/2 512mb sticks?

Re: iMac Max Ram - jdc - 11-30-2007

the max ram is listed as 3 gigs, how would it see 4?

sell them, lots of laser printers use the same ram

The 2GB modules are the same physical size as the 512MB and 1GB - they'll fit and work, but you'll only see 3GB in the system.

I've read that you'll be able to use 3.3GB....

Re: iMac Max Ram - RAMd®d - 12-01-2007

anonymouse is correct- 3.3G, even though the "spec" is 3G.

I think Apple still lists the max as 2G, so how does it see 3? Magic.

I don't know if the interleaving will work with 4G, but I doubt that it's worth the efffort unless you get a really good deal on the RAM.

Re: iMac Max Ram - Buzz - 12-01-2007

interleaving supposedly does work w/ 4GB; and a really good deal on RAM does make it work even better.
