RAM question - DP - 12-06-2007
just added a 1GB stick to my PB G4 1.25 bringing it up to 1.25GB. I bought it with 512 (2x256) and i yanked one to add the gig. A colleague at work said that unless I'm adding a lot of RAM to it then I should yank the 256 as the computer will "dumb down"-his words-to the 256 and run slower than if I were to use just the 1GB. I've never heard of this but I'm no expert, so...

He's getting confused about the recommendation to use matched pairs in certain computers. PowerBook G4 is not one of those computers.
What you've done is fine. Not a problem. 1.25 GB with an unmatched pair is just fine.
