Got my iMac today and looked at the about this Mac info... - ssledoux - 01-04-2008 It IS a core 2 duo, not just a core duo as I thought. So, I am even more pleased with my $750 purchase!! And even though I got a 17" I am still thrilled because it is a bigger screen than my eMac anyway (16"). Aside from that, I just didn't think each extra inch was worth 100 bucks, which is essentially what it would have been to get a 20". I am in Mac heaven tonight!! I just set a 17" refurb iMac for a family member as well. If you bought the 1.83 699.00 Apple store refurb, here is a bit of info you might find useful. Even though it is a core 2 duo, the max ram is NOT 3 gigs as listed on most sites. The non-superdrive/non-bluetooth model is an EDU model, with specs that will NOT allow it to boot with 3 gigs. Through trial and error, I was able to get it to boot with 2.5 gigs. (one 2 gig stick, one 512 stick) Ram takes about 2 minutes to add. And just for reference: 17" to 20" is an extra 3". 20-17 doesn't equal 1. ![]() ~A Re: Got my iMac today and looked at the about this Mac info... - jdc - 01-04-2008 [quote tahoedrew]Leader! Re: Got my iMac today and looked at the about this Mac info... - ssledoux - 01-04-2008 Yeah, I said $100 PER inch... This one has 2 gigs of ram now. That's 4 times what my eMac had at 512, so I'm really pleased and will be thrilled to have that much! It has 160gb hard drive too, which is plenty bigger than I had before. Now to move all my iTunes and iPhoto stuff over, and load the Office software... Re: Got my iMac today and looked at the about this Mac info... - iaJim - 01-04-2008 You're going to love it! Leader! Re: Got my iMac today and looked at the about this Mac info... - tahoedrew - 01-04-2008 [quote jdc] all that snow coming your way scaring you? Are you kidding me?! Bring it on. Oh, and sorry ssledoux, you did say, and I quote: "I just didn't think each extra inch was worth 100 bucks..." which reads as one extra inch for 100 bucks.
