Can iphone memory be upgraded? - JPK - 02-07-2008

I am just about sure the only answer is to buy the memory upgrade kit that includes a complete new phone surrounding it, but is there any less $$$ alternatives.

As a day one iPhoner who got a 4gb unit because the 8gb were already sold out, I would love to ditch my ipod and make my iPhone my primary media device.

It really is a shame they didn't put an SD slot in this thing. They could have easily omitted the super crappy camera and put a memory slot in its place.

No upgrading memory afaik.

Aye, aye, aye. I could not agree with you more. I have an 8gb but am used to my 20gb Pod. So I often will still take both devices on long trips. I'll probably upgrade my iPhone when the 32gb version comes out. But yeah, a memory slot would've made this THE killer phone instead of just a killer phone.

I doubt there's much you can do, but see if the guides here give you any clues as to whether this sort of thing might be possible:

might also google for something like "iphone take-apart guide" or something else along those lines. I'm sure you aren't the first person to ponder that question.

Yeah, need to get a new phone, but if you get a new phone it won't (shouldn't) extend your contract. If you unlock your iPhone you can get about $400-450 for it on eBay then go buy a new 16GB iPhone.

Lotta pressure that afternoon…bfd came about | | this close to buying a 4GB because they'd run out of 8 giggers … many thanks to the guy who announced at the door that he'd just gotten off the phone with the Apple Store. they still had about a gazillion of them and there was no line …

4GB makes it practically unusable. With the system overhead, you're left with about enough for a gig of music, one movie and a few crappy shots from the phone cam.

Did you get the $100 rebate?

The suggestion about unlocking it and selling it on eBay is a good one, even if you only got $200 for it…
