is 128GB the size limit from my lacie firewire case? - thekingofboggle - 02-09-2008 i just bought a 500GB ata drive to put in an older Lacie (D2) case. when i booted up with the bigger drive in the lacie case and reformatted it, it only shows up as 128GB is this the maximum that i will be able to get out of the lacie case? here's the info from system profiler: LaCie 1394 Disk drive LUN 0: Manufacturer: LaCie Group SA Model: 0x0 GUID: 0xD04B2814056800 Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Sub-units: LaCie 1394 Disk drive LUN 0 Unit: Unit Software Version: 0x10483 Unit Spec ID: 0x609E Firmware Revision: 0x32 Product Revision Level: 3.AA Sub-units: LaCie 1394 Disk drive LUN 0 SBP-LUN: Capacity: 128 GB Removable Media: Yes BSD Name: disk6 Mac OS 9 Drivers: No Partition Map Type: APM (Apple Partition Map) S.M.A.R.T. status: Not Supported Volumes: LappyPal: Capacity: 127.87 GB Available: 127.8 GB Writable: Yes File System: Journaled HFS+ BSD Name: disk6s3 Mount Point: /Volumes/LappyPal Re: is 128GB the size limit from my lacie firewire case? - Racer X - 02-09-2008 maybe. see if LaCie has a firmware updater for the bridgeboard to see larger drives. That case must be over 5 years old if it can't se big drives. Re: is 128GB the size limit from my lacie firewire case? - JoeH - 02-10-2008 If not the case, check the drive to see if it has a jumper to limit the size reported so it will be compatible with older systems. Re: is 128GB the size limit from my lacie firewire case? - hal - 02-10-2008 LappyPal? Re: is 128GB the size limit from my lacie firewire case? - OWC Larry - 02-11-2008 Nada we can do for a LaCie enclosure.... Not aware of any jjumpers or firmware available to change them. I'd guess the enclosure is: A> from before 2003, in which case - that predates industry standard LBA for over 128GB B> purchased after, but built to limit by LaCie in which case nothing they've put out there that would adjust that. |
