Usually never a good sign, but it was a small cell. Maybe 2 inches fell in one heck of a hurry. Last time we had thunder snow we got about 3 feet. Whew !

We had thunder snow here the other day. Really loud & really bright lightning.

All 4 of the mountain passes leading to Seattle are currently cut off. If I wanted to go to Seattle right now it would be a 6+ hour trip. Usually it is only 2 hours. Now, I'd have to drive through Portland OR to get to Seattle because of all the snow.

I experienced thunder during a snowstorm, a long slow 'clap' that I mistook for an airplane at first, for the first time about a week ago. I felt like I was on an alien planet . . .

-13 right now with 35 mph winds. The winds keep the atmosphere stirred up so it won't get much colder than -20. We had above normal temps for the month of January (1.6 degrees above normal) with six days above freezing. None yet in Feb. No snow in January and but perhaps 1/2 inch so far this month. Half of the 6" we had on the ground in December is gone; the rest will be gone by the end of March. I wore my heavy sweatshirt outside today - first time this winter. St. Cloud MN.

-1 today in Chicago, up from -4. I don't believe in windchill.
Yesterday I walked around for several hours without gloves and hat, beautiful late winter day.
