iPod won't play from iTunes when connected to different computer?? - prof - 02-10-2008 My friend has a 4G iPod that connects and plays fine from iTunes when connected to her PC but when I connect it to my PC I get a message asking it I want to sync all of my library onto her iPod which of course I don't. When I select no, the iPod shows up in iTunes but all the songs are greyed out and I can't play them!! This did not used to be like this. You used to be able to connect your iPod to another computer and play songs from it. Is there a iPod update that I can roll the iPod back to restore this functionality?? TIA, Prof P.S.- None of these songs are from the iTMS Re: iPod won't play from iTunes when connected to different computer?? - onthedownlow - 02-10-2008 The reason it is greyed out is because it is still in an auto-sync mode...to play the songs off the iPod...you need to select the iPod, then select "Manually manage this iPod"...the songs will become selectable...you can re-arrange, play, delete, add, etc... ...when your friend hooks it back up to her computer, etc...it will still be in manual mode...all that has to be done is to put it back to automatically sync the iPod again and it will restore any changes done to it (based on her iTunes library). Hope that makes sense. I use this all of the time...taking my iPod to my office and other places/computers. |
