Makes me wonder if that isn't just the first gunshot into the news to let people know that the Mac OS CAN be run on an Intel Machine (for the masses) - and that the true profits that result from software will become Apple's to license as an OS to the world.
You buy the machine for hardware quality, but you can still pay $100 for the vapor of a 2 cent DVD with $99 profit margin (instead of 9% or whatever they make on machines) and sell 100,000,000 copies to run on all the rest out there.

they'll probably make it so that you can't run software update without borking your machine.
that would be enough trouble for me not to consider running hacked mac os x

Without MacOS Apple would be just a music player company. It is really the crown jewel of their computer business. Stealing it steals their soul.

well, they hacked in the iCHAT...now this...what is next?
I am sure Intel and Steve discussed all the possibilities but on the NET anything is possible.

So why is this some sort of a tragedy, yet stealing music is cool? Why is it ok for Apple to close down a website yet uncool for the RIAA to close down a website or a server?
Heck, why not get Mac OS running on a $399 Dell box, which probably has the same CPU, mobo bridge chips, and everything else as a $1295 intel iMac?

There's no way Apple can stop this from happening. They can spend a lot money trying, but it's gonna happen.
