lost system discs, best place for replacements? - wickedsteve - 03-31-2008

I lost the system discs for my latest Mac. I just purchased it recently and already can not find the system discs. So is the Applestore the best place for replacements? Or another reseller?

Call Applecare and tell them you misplaced your discs. They might replace them for you for a small fee. Or if your original did not work they will replace it for free.

Well, if you can't find them, then technically they won't work, will they? Smile

update
I called AppleCare.
They will replace my discs for $35-40
I am going home and turning everything in my house upside down.
Wish me luck.

your SO hid them to force you to clean. Pretty crafty.....

I called AppleCare again. The second person I talked to said if they were missing or damaged they would replace them free of charge. I said I lost them and don't mind paying for them. He was nice enough to "make an exception since the Mac was purchased two weeks ago."
Replacements are on their way.

Glad to hear that. Since they are machine specific discs and not full retail, I think it was the right thing for them to do. They are really only out the shipping and handling and now they have a happy customer.
