Hi everyone,
All of the current allergy meds such as Zyrtec and Singular aren’t doing anything for my allergies. So, my allergist just put me on an old school antihistamine called Aerolust. I'm hoping it combined with nasal washing via an AYR nasal wash system will help reduce my allergy symptoms, i.e. itchy watery eyes, itchy nose, post nasal drip, etc.
Apparently, Aerolust is an allergy med used prior to the advent of current choices like Zyrtec and Singular. Very powerful with a drying agent to help reduce nasal drip. Based on that, it seems like it should be very effective for my situation. If it works.
Since it’s an old school allergy med which even I haven’t heard of and I’ve tried more of these than most, I tried to get some information on it. No luck. Not even via google.
Have any of you heard of Aerolust?

Oops! Couldn't read the doc's handwriting. It's aerohist! 'course, the name of the stuff makes more sense now. Grrr! Found the info.

This is plain old stuff. Nothing to be too amazed about....
The inclusion of methscopolamine nitrate has me scratching my head. It's there, I'll
assume, as a sedative, as it is freely substituted for other sedatives, for its action on
muscarinic receptors. Perhaps to keep you down, in order to rest easier.
(This is not to be confused with the H2 antagonist actions of methscopolamine - (without
the "nitrate") which acts much like Pepcid.)
Unless the dosage of the combo is higher than normal, it's basically over the counter stuff.
Chlorpheniramine is in fully half the OTC sniffle meds you find. In many people its broad
histamine affinity means it can make you drowsy. Add to it the methscopolamine nitrate,
and it's a near certainty.
Am actually amazed I have never heard of it, since I pummel my own system with things
that cause reactions, such as cat hair, milk, and in spring, the pollen, etc. I thought I'd
have taken everything for allergies that is out there at least once... but this one never
came my way.

A neti pot can't cut it for me. I use the AYR nasal wash system. It's a squeeze bottle based system that is the nasal equivalent of a power washer.

Then obviously the house equiv of a nasal washer would be even more effective.

Aerolust sounds a lot more stimulating that Aerolist.
