Why doesn't Honda bring back????? - samintx - 07-10-2008

Honda used to have a car like this. Then they brought out the 4 seater and stopped making the 2 seater....Why doesn't Honda bring this back? In 59-60 there were a few around Denver but we bought the 4 seater for under 2,000.00! I think it was like 1200.00 because the next one we bought was around 2000.00 and we were shocked!

What is the cost of this two seater?

The MSRP is around $11,000, but you would be hard pressed to actually find one near that price. I drove a Smart Four-Two last year. Very impressive little car. It won't set any speed records, but that isn't what I need. There is a diesel model that is sold in Europe that gets closer to 70MPG, but we'll never see that in the US because it would make too much sense.

Sam, as JP said, you're only ten years off!:
"By the early 1960s, the Honda had built its first automobiles for the Japanese home market and entered Formula One racing. But it wasn't until 1970 that it imported its first car, the diminutive N600, to the U.S. The automaker initially had a hard time sparking interest in American buyers, but that all changed in 1973 with the introduction of the Civic. The car offered larger dimensions than Honda's previous models even though it was still relatively petite compared to compact American cars. The Civic's fuel efficiency (an important selling point given that decade's energy crisis) and affordability made it Honda's first American success story. By 1976, the Civic had been joined by the Accord, which quickly became a favorite with U.S. consumers as well. "
