Syntax-Brillian, maker of Olevia tv's is reorganizing under Chapter 11 to end production and consolidate their debt in a holding company.
Olevia tv's consistently get great reviews. They were apparently selling very well right up until the beginning of this year.
I picked up one of their tv's at the end of last year. F-ing great tv for the money. Loaded with features. Very nice picture. Terrific sound. More connectivity options than most tv's at twice the price.
I'm guessing that a lot of people 'round here have bought 'em, too.

that is too bad. This risk is a good reason to buy from costco or use an AMEX card (or gold card). I assume the doubling of the warranty will still apply even if the original warranty is no longer valid, but I guess that is an open question too.

Well that stinks! In the past 8 months I've helped my in-laws buy a 52" and my parents get two of them (27" and 37" models). I thought the picture quality and features for the price points were excellent. Sorry to hear about this.

My old TV Repair guy retired a couple of years ago. He was great. When are the next generation of Fixit guys gonna gear up and populate the boulevards?

I wonder if one purchased an extended warranty through a different vendor (I didn't, but was considering it), whether an independent shop would still provide repair under said extended third party warranty.
