Glitter and Doom: Tom Waits in Concert - mrthuse - 08-07-2008

What a great concert. TW's definitely an acquired taste, but he performs live so infrequently aficionados will rave:

I got to get that onto my ipod for the long drive.

I didn't even know about this tour.
Not near me, but 10 years ago I may have gone down to Jacksonville.

I have seen him 'perform' once many (too many) years ago in a very small venue. (more of a piano bar atmosphere). I mostly remember him being a bit more raw / rude / crude than I expected.
Roundabout the time of the release of Small Change.

Will have to d/l that later.

Make sure you grab the Spiritualized set from the 930 Club on the NPR site. Saw their show in Philly a few days after that, it was sublime.

Yea, I haven't seen him since '74 in Philadelphia at...

...Can't remember more than it was about a block off of Broad, south of Wanamaker's, and went down steps - a true rathskeller. Not more than 75 tables, w/ 4 chairs @.

He played guitar more than the piano. Think HEART OF SATURDAY NIGHT was out then. John Stewart opened.

...a good night.
