Outgoing Mail Settings--Argh - JT Allen - 09-01-2008

Running 10.5.4, Mail app 3.3

The company that hosts my website and email recently changed. When they re-propagated everything, we had some email issues they solved on the server side. Things worked well for about a week.

Now, I can't send email from Mail. I can receive it, I just can't send it.

If I go into the webmail in my cpanel, I am able send from there. When we had issues before, I was not able to send from webmail.

All my settings match what they are telling me to do.

Any ideas?

Who's your ISP?

'Seems like they've got a new mail policy at your ISP (the local one, not your web host). Call them and see if they'll open port 25 for you.

Alternatively, call the web host and ask them to enable secure email for you. It uses a different port and is seldom blocked by ISPs.

if you're with comcast, I had this same issue just a couple of weeks ago. search the forum for the post--I think the thread provided all the info you'd need to fix the issue.

Re: Outgoing Mail Settings--Argh - JT Allen - 09-01-2008

Couldn't get a connection using port 587.

I have Wave Broadband as my ISP.

I'll call my host and see if they can set me up with secure mail or open another port.

Thanks!

It was my ISP. They started blocking all outgoing mail that didn't go through their SMTP server. Got their settings and I'm good to go!
