Here's hoping that they dramatically slash the prices of the iPod Touch.

I am hoping that slashed ipod touch prices will slash ipod touch refurb prices ;-)

From the looks of the invitation, it seems that it will be heavy on iPod news.

I predict free iPhones with $5/month data fees, and MacBook Pro prices cut to compete with the eePC.

Hey, I can always dream...

I think they will announce that MobileMe is now mostly operational.

That cracked me up, 3p.

I think Stevie said September would be a busy month for Apple, so I'm guessing that the 9th will be one or two products of the same category.

The invitation does make it look pretty iPod centric. They are probably the lead-in for bigger, more expensive iron. Or aluminum.

The "fake" nano looks to be the real deal. Can it offer more than just a different shape? Is the current nano not selling as well as expected?

I don't know what could be done to make the Classic a better iPod. Significantly dropping the price on the Touch would seem to edge into the Classic's sales. Drop the Classic? Doesn't seem likely. Increase the memory on the iTouch and drop the price-- some?

Apple doesn't really have to meet the $199/299 price of the iPhone since not *everybody* gets that price. With more memory, the Touch could command a premium over the 'Phone.

Who didn' already know the date of the event? Show of hands...?

I think MacRumors ought to be Apple's official conduit for future media events.
