Screaming window contractor - Black Landlord - 09-02-2008
Dealing with an emotional-10-year-old who's been sitting on my windows for months, and won't be pinned down to an installation time. Most recently was supposed to be one weekday this week, now after being screamed and sworn at we seem to be set for Sunday the 14th of September. To his credit he didn't hang up on me in the midst of his tirade, and made an admission that "people tell him all the time he swore at them and he doesn't remember it".
But anyways, I just wanted to pass it along rather then harbor this energy inside me.

Is this one of the cons of mobility impairment ?
Surely 10 year olds are too busy with school work for part time job labor.

You mean you've never before dealt with an independent contractor? Trust me, they take the word "independent" quite seriously. Mine has never cussed at me; he's totally passive resistive and says he'll be here and then never show up. Actually, I better be nice about what I say, because he has been better over the last couple of years, but it took me since 1975 to get him whipped into shape.

just record the pric an play it back for him once. What is he going to do, sue you for illegally recording him?
Pretend you answering machine was goofed up, and it recorded the whole call instead of shutting off when you pick up. Works for me all the time.

No, I have, there's almost always a very clear reason they're not able to work for anyone else. I can't say my experience with folks who work for construction companies and theoretically have to answer to someone "above" them has been much different though.
If I'd have put more effort into making lafinfil like me, I wouldn't be in this situation.

Kind of tough with a cell phone, but I could pretent I'm unclear on the date we picked and leave him a message asking him to leave me a message confirming the date. For whatever that would be worth. I'm in for about $900. Truth be told I might be most likely to just walk away rather than pursue the poor soul legally, if I'm never able t pin him down.

Of course there's a clear reason why they're not able to work for anyone else - they don't take orders worth diddly squat.
My was actually an aeronautical engineer who used to work for Lockheed. I can just imagine him in the corporate setting. I bet it was not a pretty sight. I'm itching to ask for details about your comment regarding lafinfil, but I'm chicken.
