Who writes Yahoo News? - Mac1337 - 09-16-2008

Who, or where, are Yahoo news editors. Case in point:

U.S. defence chiefs in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Isn't "defence" a British spelling? Spell checker gives me a red line under the word.

Color...colour...

Yahoo! does not employ editors as far as I know, they simply licence Wink content from sources all over the world. In this case it may be Reuters or some other British or maybe even a Pakistani news source.

The copy desks of many papers have been shipped overseas. The Orange County Register was the first, I believe. So get used to "defence" and "licence" and plural when referring to an indeterminate article, for instance "The management are guilty but defiant."
