bought it, used it to copy data over before swapping drives, it worked perfectly. install and remove without restarting.

definitely a good deal for $20.

Are you on a MBP ?

So no drivers needed, and hot-swappable as well? That's better than the add-on for my Mac Pro that OWC sells! For that baby, the drive has to be attached and powered up at bootup to be recognized...

Very cool idea. For $20, one can't go too wrong!

Thanks,
John

Um - this Express card provides power to the SATA drive too? That would be a new one - please advise...

And Mac compatible? Very interested!

Re: Meritline eSATA ExpressCard - Thumbs up! - mattkime - 10-03-2008

no it doesn't supply power - i used the power supply from a universal usb drive adapter. i used an eSATA -> SATA cable to connect it to the 2.5" SATA drive that is now inside my MBP.

do they sell the or provide the power cable with it? I'm still looking for a power adapter for those firelite deals from a while back.

dot.

dotman - i'd look at the specs for the firelite power adapter and then buy a universal one at radioshack or see if you can mind a match at http://www.allelectronics.com/

In for one. Now waiting for a good deal on a 500GB or 1 TB drive to put in a FW / eSATA enclosure.
