Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - rexrzer - 03-06-2006 The cool USB scales, and two, FREE new Nokia 6102 cell phones! Only had to pay sales tax on the list price of the phones, about $34. I got to keep my existing Cingular Special Olympics rate plan, which is 700 anytime minutes, Roll-Over, and unlimited nights and weekends=$35 a month, plus $14.95 for the 2nd phone, plus taxes etc=$59 a month average bill for the past 4 years. I haven't upgraded phones for more than 4 years, and have been without a contract with Cingular since 10/27/2005. Now I have another 2-year conract, but I'm really pleased to have been able to take advantage of RShack's weekend promotion on the Nokia 6102 phones. But I'm a little shell-shocked that I've done the deed...it's all over...no more agonizing about what phone, which plan, etc that I'm going to go with. My old phones were Nokia 3595's, so the learning curve is going to be steep for this novice cell phone user. I honestly have NO IDEA how to do anything except answer, dial, use the SIM card function to find a number to call, and hang up at this point. Color me lost in space. I could have chosen a similar LG phone, but opted to stick with Nokia. Is this a good thing Microchip13? Did I do the right thing? I sure hope so, because this is a done deal. Now to decide what to do with the old phones. Hmmm, are they worth selling on eBay? Should I give them to the local police so they can give them to handicapped/old folks for emergency phones? I'll have to figure that out sometime soon. And the scale works great! I have it hooked up to my G5, and the software works perfect. I guess I have to edit the US Postal rates, but other than that it works as advertised. I got two scales because my wife wanted one for upstairs for her iMac, as she's always borrowing my electronic scale to weight this or that, and now she has one for herself. To think that I was just about to go do my yardwork for the week when the Radio Shack manager telephoned, telling me that my scales have arrived. "On Sunday?" I asked him. He told me that one of his employees lives in Carpinteria, up by Santa Barbara, and that she had picked up my two scales (I ordered them Thursday) from the Ventura RS store on the way to work today--that's how they got them on Sunday. I'm looking at those two phones charging right now, and suddenly I fell very confused. If I had to use one of them I'd have to look in the "Quick Start Guide" before I could do anything other than answer, and hang up. What an afternoon! ________________ Re: Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - decocritter - 03-06-2006 If you can get those scales to work - you can get that phone working. If not just ask some 11 year old kid about the phone. Re: Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - Refurbvirgin - 03-06-2006 Scaleader! What does one of those USB scales weigh, anyweigh? Re: Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - microchip13 - 03-06-2006 Read the entire manual. It'll help. The menus are actually quite intuitive, and should be very similar in usage to your 3595's. GSM LG's=BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD Glad to hear you got some newer phones, I hope you didn't sign your life away. Re: Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - microchip13 - 03-06-2006 BTW, I'll take a scale. That's not accurate, what if the top plate (where you put the stuff) weighs by itself 1 lb??? that's not taken into account. Assuming the scale works at all upside down. Now read the subject line again: he's got 2 USB scales. Got any ideas??? Re: Went to Radio Shack to pick up 2 USB Scales...Walked out with.... - D-Rod - 03-06-2006 rexrzer, I updated the scale postage rates and added priority, media and parcel post to use directly without the internet. Right now Grateful11 and mjgkramer are testing it out. If you want I can send it to you or anyone else that wants to try it. I must work on being more obvious. True, this would not be taken into account. But depending on how the balance is designed (removable pan) you could then weigh the pan. At least I can on my balance (not a Radio Shack one). Add the mass of the pan to the mass of the upsidedown balance and you have the total mass. > Assuming the scale works > at all upside down. Most modern balances will if the mass of the balance is within the working range of the balance. At least cheap ones probably will. > Now read the subject line again: he's got 2 USB > scales.
