Strange internet problem - vicrock - 10-22-2008 At work, we have cable internet - netgear router. I try to remember to leave iChat open so that I can screen share if I forget something. Several days a week, I lose connection - and some times I get a message that says "IP Configuration 192.168.0.4 in use by 00:30:65:0b:64:99, DHCP Server 192.168.0.1" Anyone have any thoughts on what might be the problem? Re: Strange internet problem - john-o - 10-23-2008 It means someone else's machine has the same IP address as you. Maybe someone who set their machine up manually to use the .4 address? Sounds like their machine isn't always on, but when it comes on it kicks your machine off. Or wait, is your machine set up manually? Go to Sys. Prefs.->Network, and see how your machine is set up. If it's set to use the .4 IP address manually, just switch it to "via DHCP". Hope this helps, John |
