Swapped drive on new Al Macbook. Something strange happened. - richorlin - 10-22-2008

Just swapped the stock drive with a Seagate Momentus 7200.3 G-force 320gb drive and my battery indicator lost well over an hour. I know that the 7200 drive will draw more power than the stock 5400 but I didn't think it would go down that much. I'm going to calibrate the battery and see if that changes things. If not, the original drive goes back in the Macbook.

how long did it last before, how long does it show now?

It would show three and a half to four hours and now it shows two to two and a half.
I'll post what it is after the calibration.

Is OS X indexing the new drive? That would draw a lot of power....

I checked and it's not indexing. The drive is a clone of the original drive, which was already indexed.
Calibration will take overnight. I will post results in the A.M.

Now it's back to normal. Shows 5 hours on a full charge
Very weird.
