Shades of Al Gore! - Gutenberg - 10-31-2008
As the popular vote tightens slightly, the electoral vote is moving more and more to Barack Obama.

Rasmussen has moved Montana and Indiana from "Leans Republican" to "tossup." That leaves no states in the "leans Republican" column. McCain has 160 electoral votes projected, and would have to sweep the "toss up" column plus all but New Hampshire in the "Leans Democratic" column to win. That's a lot of work to do in four days.
I don't think McCain will win the popular vote, but he might come within three or four points.

I can't wait until Tuesday. I can't wait. I really can't. Somebody smack me, I am becoming hysterical. I want to go to sleep and wake up on Tuesday. It feels so far away and I can't wait any more. I want this over.

take a look at what electoral-vote.com has to say about the numbers of repubs and dems early voting. they're indicating a landslide. still, who knows what will happen. it'll be interesting.

I think that younger Democrats would be most likely to go for early voting. Codgerettes like me tend to go to the polls on Election Day. All of the polls I have read say that the early voting is trending Obama. For instance, in states that are keeping track, more Democrats than Republicans have voted so far. In Georgia, they keep track by race and the African-American early vote is very big.

I like the social aspect of going to the polls--chatting with my neighbors on line, seeing who's out there, getting the gossip from the judges, things like that. I like all the people. I like walking to the polling place and thinking about what I am going to do. The couple of times I had to fill out an absentee ballot it didn't feel like I had voted.

Here are the stats from today's AJC. Note: Georgians do not register, so no Dem/Rep breakout.

Note: the gender numbers do not add up to 100% because the gender of voters listed in the racial category "other" is not included in the data.

It would be kind of nice not to hear a peep about any results until after all the polls are closed across the country. No exit polls, no results from early voting, nothing.
