Ok I voted and the machine malfunctioned! - kap - 11-04-2008 It took me all 15 minutes. The line wasn't bad at all. The voters were very jovial, friendly and in chit-chat mood. The whole process was well-organized except that the machine (Don't know the name of it) stopped functioning and kept spitting out ballots. Re: Ok I voted and the machine malfunctioned! - the_poochies - 11-04-2008 In our state, you can request a provisional ballot from the poll worker if the machine malfunctions. Re: Ok I voted and the machine malfunctioned! - kap - 11-04-2008 I don't know what that machine was supposed to do. THe poll worker said it was not for counting the ballots because he dropped the ballots into an enclosed box beneath the machine. There was concern if our votes would be counted. No one could answer. Then call your local election office and tell them about the problem. Re: Ok I voted and the machine malfunctioned! - davester - 11-04-2008 I don't think it should be a problem since you're in California (I think). If the machine doesn't work then the poll workers count all the paper ballots the old-fashioned way. Good thing we have a paper trail. Do any of the states still use the machines that don't produce or use an auditable paper record (those are illegal here). |
