No more secret ballots? I can't imagine this will pass if our Congress is thinking.

Unions have outlived their usefulness anyway, but to do away with secret ballots is ridiculous.

Unions exist nowadays to respond to bad managers. At least small unions like the one in our shop. Our union employees were fairly non-committal to the union, they accepted it because it was there. However, thanks to two bad managers, a few of the non-commital to moderatly anti-union members now have become die-hard union supporters. One guy, a died-in-the-wool Republican has become the steward of the union just because of the one manager who mistreats the employees.

That is what I see the role of the union becoming, one to protect employees against bad managers and bad management.
