Anyone watched Guyana Tragedy? a TV miniseries '80s - samintx - 11-21-2008

It was shown on a cable channel Metroplex which I think is defunct now and I DVDed it. Excellent drama. So well acted. The guy that played the main young man in ROOTS is in it for one.

Do you mean "Albert Hall" of "Roots: The Next Generations"?
Here is the movie that Sami is babbling about.:

No, I really don't want to watch a reenactment of that tragedy. When I was in the service, I met someone who was on "body detail" at Dover AFB, which is where all the bodies were flown to. Yikes.

Jones Town certainly was a tragedy, but there is a lesson to be learned. Beware the false prophets. There are those, who, with flowery speach, charisma, and message of peace, hope and love, that others will follow blindly and never question. Follow they did and in following they died.

For those of you who weren't around when it happened, it's where the cliche "drink the Koolaid" came from.
