Eh, it's a TN panel.

Re: 22" Widescreen LCD w/ DVI: $150 Shipped - Silencio - 11-25-2008

Bought a few for some non Photoshop-using clients and they're pretty good, especially for such a low price. But yeah, the lack of DVI cable in the box is pretty chintzy.

I would never use a TN desktop display myself, but they're fine for many purposes.

Yeah. It's just important to keep in mind they're missing 16.51 million of the 16.78 million colors other displays show.

Re: 22" Widescreen LCD w/ DVI: $150 Shipped - StingMe - 11-25-2008

I just picked up a $199 24" widescreen Envision Professional Series LCD (Model G416; Certified for Windows Vista!) at Costco - as a temporary display for a mini whose 23" Apple display started acting up. It certainly won't win any beauty contests running against the aluminum Cinema Display (which was $700 more mind you), but I was pleasantly surprised by the display...and as a bonus, both VGA and DVI cables were in the box. Big Grin

What is TN?

Simply put, TN = 6-bit...versus the S-IPS/S-PVA/MVA panels which are usually 8-bit

Here's a nice discussion that is probably mostly correct Big Grin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD

Which still makes them fine for many for many purposes.

I *am* curious as to that kind of panels have been employed in Apple's many 'Books over the last 10 years or so, say- from the G3 iBook, onward.

That's not actually the case. There are a few 22" LCDs that are not TN panels.
