AppleCare for iPhone - yes/no? - rouderon - 12-08-2008 1st Gen iPhone and 1yr warranty with Apple about to run out before Christmas. If I understand how AppleCare works it will basically extend the warranty one additional year for $69. My main concern is the battery life, which is pretty pitiful. Also, I had to exchange my iPhone a few months ago due to it periodically calling people at random (actually watched it do this - without touching it). So far no problems on the newer phone. Any advice? Re: AppleCare for iPhone - yes/no? - jardster - 12-08-2008 i just purchased mine today... i think well worth it, especially considering batteries are covered. Re: AppleCare for iPhone - yes/no? - RAMd®d - 12-08-2008 If Apple Care is available for the iPhone, it most likely won't cover your battery. It's old. Only a defective battery, not a used up one, would be covered by warranty. And proving to Apple that a battery is defective is not always an easy sell. The battery can be replaced by Apple for less than the cost of Apple Care.
