Are you bargaining with retailers? - samintx - 12-22-2008 http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Shoppers-haggle-for-deals-apf-13892923.html I would not have the nerve to pull some of these antics. But I'm an online shopper 99% of the time. Re: Are you bargaining with retailers? - BigGuynRusty - 12-22-2008 I have always been a "Haggler", you're a foolish shopper if you don't. BGnR Re: Are you bargaining with retailers? - Acer - 12-22-2008 Cars, home improvement contracts, yes, but not the little stuff. Re: Are you bargaining with retailers? - MacMagus - 12-22-2008 You can get up to an additional 15% off of electronics at Microcenter just by asking a manager to mark it down. (Sales associates aren't allowed to mark down prices anymore in most of their stores, but it's worth asking an associate first if you don't know your MC's policies.) They'll even mark down clearance items. If they seem unwilling to mark down an item, ask them if they'll make a deal if you go for an extended warranty (so long as the warranty costs less than the discount). They get bonus pay for selling extended warranties. Re: Are you bargaining with retailers? - AlphaDog - 12-22-2008 Nope, it's hard to bargain with Amazon. ![]() On the big ticket stuff? Moderately, but I'm not good at it, I never have been good at it, and I hate the fact it should even be necessary. Yes, BGnR, call me a fool, but it requires a certain kind of person to haggle, and I'm not one of them. So be it. Shopping sales and price comparisons is more my style. Considering how ridiculous Microcenter's clearance item prices are, that means you can haggle it down to only twice what it costs on eBay. Even for the things like this that were sold in outdoor markets. The Koreans thought you were weird if you didn't make the effort to haggle. |
