MacBook Pro + nVidia, RIP - mattkime - 12-23-2008

looks like my mbp has suffered an acute loss of video as described here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377

i don't think i've ever needed to send in my machine. the data is backed up, but i upgraded both the ram and the hard drive. should i have any concern about getting these back?

yes

ug, i can't even start to get it fixed until i return to new york in a week. apple only sends out boxes for machines covered under applecare.

Yeah, if you have upgraded RAM, take it out before you send it in.

Re: MacBook Pro + nVidia, RIP - RAMd®d - 12-23-2008

I agree with the RAM advice.

When there's a problem with a 'Book, it seems Apple will remove non-Apple memory (and probably even Apple memory) and it might get misplaced.

There *might* have been a post here about somebody not getting an HD back when they should have, but I may be misremembering. And that would have been the *only* mention I've seen anywhere about an HD getting misplaced.

Wiped, yes. Misplaced, no.
