now that Wife is pregnant and I end up doing the cooking... - space-time - 01-24-2009 what recipe would you recommend, that is healthy, doesn't take a lot of time, doesn't call for raw eggs or other stuff pregnant women cannot eat, doesn't make lots of odors, and can be cooked by an amateur chef like me? please just name the recipe, and I'll google it later. Thanks!!! Re: now that Wife is pregnant and I end up doing the cooking... - clay - 01-24-2009 how about breakfast foods? Baked oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, etc Or soups: Potato soup, Chicken noodle soup, Cream of Broccoli soup, Minestrone, etc Re: now that Wife is pregnant and I end up doing the cooking... - mikebw - 01-24-2009 I don't have names for what I make. I often find myself just cutting up a couple red/green peppers, an onion, and maybe some eggplant, tossing them all into a skillet and cooking them down with some soy or some thai curry sauce, then add that to rice. Really easy. Only as smelly as you want it to be in terms of adding spices and sauces. You can also add chicken or tofu depending on your intended audience. Basically, my wife is living off of oatmeal, soy milk, cereal, the occasional piece of beef, and lots of raw veggies. Her newly enhanced bionic nose is driving me crazy. Everything smells wrong or bad to her. She is ALWAYS cold. Re: now that Wife is pregnant and I end up doing the cooking... - Michael - 01-24-2009 Incredibly easy dinner: 2 cups of rice (uncooked), 3 cups of chicken broth, an appropriate amount of pineapple chunks (pour in some juice--what the heck), some peas, some corn, and cut up chicken breasts. Stir it all together in a casserole dish and bake at 350 it for 45 min-1 hour. The amounts of various things depends on what you like. Toss in other veggies if you'd like--we've tossed in a variety of things, often leftovers from previous dinners. When my wife was pregnant, the things that went in were rather different than they are now. Takes a couple of minutes to get ready and is tasty. |
