LEM or eBay or ? - kap - 01-25-2009 Want to get a couple of DDR PC3200 333MHz/400MHz RAM modules for our P4 2.4GHz XP Pro desktop. I have already done some price comparisons among the online vendors. eBay offers the best bang for the buck, http://cgi.ebay.com/SAMSUNG-PC3200-1GB-DDR-SDRAM-1-GB-PC-3200-DDR400-1G-RAM_W0QQitemZ370099776847QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item370099776847&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234; I don't have an eBay account nor PayPal nor any experience with selling nor buying on eBay. I am avoiding the hassle. So should I try LEM or just pay more for ones from buy.com, frys.com, etc.? Is it permitted to ask it here if any member has ones to sell? Yup, I am trying not to spend so much on an old machine ![]() Re: LEM or eBay or ? - marksomebodyelse - 01-25-2009 I sell on LEM regularly. Post a request to buy. You should open a paypal account. It really helps when buying online from private sellers Re: LEM or eBay or ? - mikebw - 01-25-2009 Have you checked out http://www.dealram.com ? they make it easy to find the cheapest deals out there from online vendors. Re: LEM or eBay or ? - kj - 01-25-2009 Crap, I was going to get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146545 Mostly because crucial (made by micron) is one of the biggest employers here, but the one you found on ebay is enough cheaper that I might not be able to resist. Cripes, is it worth a few bucks to support the locals? kj. Is micron still making memory boards in the US? I think so, but not for long. They've little by little (lot by lot) been cutting all the manufacturing here, but are hoping to retain the engineers, etc., from what I understand. But I think there are still people doing manufacturing here. Most of the people I know who still work there are engineers. At any rate, they still employ a lot of people here, either way. I think crucial is just micron's brand name for memory. I do remember them announcing they would be moving some manufacturing out of the country a while back. I think people knew that meant all, eventually. kj. Re: LEM or eBay or ? - srf1957 - 01-26-2009 Hi-density ram might not work. I bought ram from a different vendor that also sold low density ram for about 2 times the price. A friend told me hi density chips were not made to run in a regular consumer pc. |
