Puppy Linux - karsen - 01-26-2009

Puppy Linux is a very fast, and very small Linux Distro. Excellent for older computers. I just installed it on a very old Compaq Presario laptop. I've had Windows ME, Windows XP and Ubuntu installed on that particular machine. Nothing touches Puppy in terms of speed. It feels like a brand new computer.

If you've got an old computer sitting around that'd you'd like to squeeze a little more life out of give Puppy Linux a try. I'm donating this particular machine to a family in need, hope they don't mind doggies! Smile

Hmm. Thanks for the info. I'm not much of a hacker but I can try anything once...

It's not hacker stuff at all. Just a very simple OS with basic web browsing, email, word processing, image editing and music playing capability.

I've used that on a few REALLY old machines that I was getting rid of at work. They had HDs that were only 2-4 Gb. Worked well enough.

I was going to try this on an old G3 iBook, but it looks like it won't work on PowerPC machines - at least according to this:
