Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - hal - 02-12-2009 WOO-HOO! In reference to this thread: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,662766,662766#msg-662766 I had purchased kingston server memory for CHEAP and was hoping to switch the heat sinks and install. WORKED! My MP is a PC2-667mhz machine. The memory was kingston KTA-XE800K2/8G - it's for the current gen of servers (800MHz). My machine reads it properly at 667 and it seems to be running a little cooler than the memory it replaced. That's an 8GB upgrade for $170. $31 would be better, but I'll take it ;-) Re: Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - mattkime - 02-12-2009 what is server memory? Re: Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - hal - 02-12-2009 memory sold for apple's servers Re: Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - mattkime - 02-12-2009 like the xserve line? Re: Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - hal - 02-12-2009 yeah, that's it Re: Server memory DOES work in Mac Pro - Lux Interior - 02-13-2009 Do you have to tip it? |
