USB Port Dead on MBP?? - prof - 03-09-2009 The USB port on the left side of my MBP seems to be dead. I've tried connecting a couple different USB drives to it and the power light on the drives comes on but they don't mount. Both work fine on the other USB port. Is there a hardware test that I can run to verify that the port isn't working before I have to take it in to the Apple Store?? Or is there some way to reset the USB ports?? TIA, prof Re: USB Port Dead on MBP?? - JoeH - 03-09-2009 Does the port work for mice or keyboards or other low power usage devices? That would indicate you have a known problem with some models, the port on one side does not get full power and does not power drives. I wasn't aware of any known issues with USB ports on MBP's. Thanks, prof Re: USB Port Dead on MBP?? - mstudio - 03-09-2009 Try resetting the PMU. Shut it off, remove battery, unplug from wall. Hold down the power button for a few seconds, put battery back in, plug back into wall, turn on. This may work, it has for me.
