Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - timg - 03-09-2009 How much of a pain is it to set up an eBay account to sell something? I have a couple things to unload, and don't really plan to make a habit of it. Is it really worth the trouble? Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - decay - 03-09-2009 depends if there's a demand & how much you will make on them. Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - mattkime - 03-09-2009 while i avoid ebay if better options are available, i've been happy with it lately. Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - abevilac - 03-09-2009 For me it depends on what I'm selling. If it can be found on Amazon's site, I sell that way. Amazon takes its cut but you can set the price and not have to worry about auctions. If it is Mac-related, then I use the LEMswap list, and I've also used CraigsList very successfully in the past for things like a pool table that don't ship well. I haven't sold on eBay for years because I've found other easier outlets. Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - voodoopenguin - 03-09-2009 Ask someone with an account to do a search for the items you have that sold recently. Make your decision on the basis of the prices achieved. I think they used t go back 90 days. now its only 14. ebay wants us to hate it. Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - Gareth - 03-09-2009 If you're a brand new eBay user and you have high-priced items, you may not get as high final bids because people are suspicious of new users. So it can take some dedication to get started on eBay (i.e. buying some items to get feedback, then selling smaller items first and getting feedback for them). But, once you are established and if you can work within the system, I find it to be pretty painless and easy. Personally, I can't stand dealing with flakely Craigslist buyers (maybe because I'm in a big city). I still list large items on Craigslist first, but often end listing them on eBay, or donating them, or tossing them in the end. Re: Have a couple things I want to sell; Is eBay worth the trouble? - timg - 03-09-2009 Actually, I've used eBay off and on over the years to buy some small things, so my "feedback" rating is 11. Not exactly stellar, but not brand spanking new either. The items I'm looking to unload are 2 VOIP boxes (formerly Sunrocket equipment). They seems to be going for about $15 lately. If that's not too painless, I might try selling some other things I have collected over the years....
