Given the run-up to meeting Syler's father, and the history of casting the really important folks with Roddenberry's peeps, and the super special Star Trek TMP "preview" event, I was 95% sure it was going to be Nimoy.
So who was this guy? An actor I'd know if I was more of a hollywood junkie?

Yes, and I purposely avoided that thread because I didn't want to know who it was going to be beforehand. Difficult concept, MISTER Rusty?
So, where would I know this guy from?

He is a decent actor.
You might know him as Lionel Luthor from Smallville. He was in Gremlins 2. He had a memorable role in ST-DS9.

Thanks! I knew it had to be someone from the Trek universe.
Big DS9 fan here-- can't place him though. Really don't want to look it up--I'm still feeling some withdrawal from the big build-up . . .
Did he play Dukat maybe?
Oh . . . . whazzisname, the Bajoran leader who was hooked up with Kira, right?

He's the shy guy with the stutter who somehow assembled an elite team of mercenaries and stole the Dax symbiote for himself, nearly killing the first (good) Dax (Jadzia).
One episode, but it was memorable.
