Looking for a new camera...what do you think - Grumpyguy - 03-19-2009
Right now I have a little Gateway that was a super deal for $99 some years ago. 5 megapixels, 3x optical.
I've looked at other shoot and point cameras, but at the most, they are limited to 5x zoom.
I really would like something with more kick, with at least 10x zoom.
I know I'll be taking it hit in terms of size, but I want something more powerful.
My price range is less than $200.

If you're gonna get a Kodak, there's no reason to get a refurb.

I've considered that model, but it lacks a view finder, though it is cheap.

Getting one in that range with a view finder and 10x is a tough combo.

remember that to make use of a monopod or tripod when when using that long zoom lens. a lot of people think "10x is better than 3x!" and then wonder why they have a bunch of blurry pics. those were the ones at 10x.
i also agree that you should save up for a dSLR if you can be talked into it. come on, you've earned it....somehow....
