Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - prof - 03-20-2009 I have a relatively small sheet metal sign that I need to affix to the outside of our brick building and I can't use screws. What is the best all weather adhesive to use to secure the sign to the building?? TIA, prof Re: Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - AAA - 03-20-2009 Tons of tube-based adhesives (think caulking gun) at local hardware store. Liquid Nails is one type of product. Ask the salesperson. Thanks, prof Re: Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - nwyaker - 03-20-2009 3M 5200 Works and cures underwater. Re: Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - Buckeye_Sean - 03-20-2009 If you're just gluing an ultra smooth sheet of aluminum or sheet metal to a brick face any knucklehead will be able to peel the thing off in a few minutes with minimal prying. I know you said you "can't" use screws - but I would use Tap-con screws. Just a thought...and I own a sign shop. http://www.tapcon.com/ Re: Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - wurm - 03-20-2009 Glue velcro®to the brick and the back of the sign and let it do its thing? Re: Best Adhesive for External Sign?? - OWC Jamie - 03-20-2009 I used 3M windshield adhesive (just as nasty as 5200 to try to remove) to stick a sign to a painted concrete foundation and found the bind's weak point was the concrete paint 's adhesion. One windy night my sign blew away. Left me with 6 spots of no paint to indicate where the sign had been. |
