Anyone here use "Epson Scan?" - Black - 04-04-2009
Or better asked, anyone here use Epson scan in Tiger and ever have it not launch, and then get it working again?
I helped a friend get her new Epson workforce 600 set up, and got everything to work except scanning. Se had already been using Epson Scan with her Perfection scanner. Tried downloading a newer version (?) or at least reinstalling Epson Scan from a downloaded copy (it was a week ago and I'm getting a hair fuzzy) but couldn't get Epson Scan to launch-- icon bounces a few times and stops.
Tried searching the web but couldn't seem to find anything that was mac specific and reasonably recent.
Thanks for any leads.

It's pretty flaky. I use it all the time. I've never had it just bounce. I normally get the message that it can't find the scanner. I normally have to unplug the USB cord to get it to see the scanner. Sometimes 2 or 3 times.
Once I get it to working, it may run a month before it acts up again. I normally do from 1 to 20 scans per day.
I tried VueScan but I hate the interface, it's so OS 9.

Epson scan stopped working somewhere along the line--maybe Leopard for me?
I used Image Capture (in your apps folder) to get the scanner to work.
Too bad, because the Epson scanner software was pretty slick, only problem, it wouldn't work.

I use Image Capture with my Epson scanner. Their software hasn't worked properly with OS X for years.

Epson Scan with a Perfection 4490 has been very reliable for me.

No problem with Epson Scan on my iMac OSx Tiger with Epson Perfection 3490 Photo scanner.
