Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - Wagman849 - 04-05-2009 Hey, Looking for 3 standard HDMI cables for a new HDTV. Nothing special, just want them to work and not be $50 a pop. Monoprice has oh so many different varieties. I am currently looking at this one. Thoughts? Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - jdc - 04-05-2009 i had so many black cables that i bought 1 of each color so i could find them later -- scroll down to the bottom to find the color ones... http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3956&seq=1&format=2 Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - Wagman849 - 04-05-2009 What are the Ferrite Cores on these cables, JDC? Thanks for the advice! Wags Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - jdc - 04-05-2009 probably some marketing hype? no idea, they seem to work fine Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - AlphaDog - 04-05-2009 When I was getting ready to order a couple from them a couple of weeks ago, the one I've linked below is what was suggested by another forum member. I, too, was confused, and I was told this one was a bit lighter in weight, since it wasn't designed for in-wall installation, so isn't as likely to pull loose from the connector. It's working just fine for me! http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=3992&x=0&y=0 Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - C(-)ris - 04-05-2009 jdc wrote: The ferrite cores help to shield out interference in the video signal. Same reason they are on monitor cables. May or may not be useful depending on your situation. Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - cyclemax - 04-05-2009 My TV came with a Ferrite Core in the accessory bag. The owner's manual said a Ferrite core was needed for any HDMI cable connected to the side port on the TV. They were not necessary on the three back HDMI ports. So, I would suggest checking your owners manual to see if they are necessary for your TV. Re: Which HDMI Cabel on Monoprice? - WHiiP - 04-06-2009 I would recommend getting longer cables than you think you need. Situations change. Locations change. It is much better to have too much cable, than too little (within reason and length limitations). |
