Another snarky comment about Macs - Mac1337 - 04-16-2009 I was at a conference a few days ago and a speaker was trying to use his MacBook Pro to show some PP slides in slideshow mode. Problem was the projector was slightly cropping his slides. So while everyone is sitting and waiting for his talk here he is going into display prefs to change the resolution. Very uncomfortable. Nothing seemed to work so here is one smart aleck in front going heh, heh it is a Mac, and you could hear snickers from the audience. After a few more minutes while the guy is still fumbling around somebody from the back of the room loudly wonders "so what is so good about Macs?" BTW, he never got it to work right. Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - Carnos Jax - 04-16-2009 Funny thing is I've seen a greater percentage of presenters using Windows have problems (I've never seen one with a Mac having issues). Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - Acer - 04-16-2009 I use both platforms to give presentations. The Mac sees the projector every time, automatically the moment it's plugged in. Windows is always an adventure in F-keys and unintuitive control panels. Perhaps the projector was set to some obscure parameter by the guy using a PC before him. Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - Paul F. - 04-16-2009 Most I've ever had to do with Macs is change the Display preferences from "Extended desktop" to "Mirrored" display. Some PC's some people bring to campus, I've never gotten to work. OF course it doesn't help that they usually have about 30 seconds lead time to get their PC, projector, and power cords set up to do the presentation.... and never have their sh!t together in the first place.. Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - Jimmypoo - 04-16-2009 I'm all for IQ tests to own a Mac. Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - Doc - 04-16-2009 If it was cropping his slides, that was probably the projector at fault. Depending on the projector, it could have been as simple to fix as nudging a little slider or knob. Re: Another snarky comment about Macs - ztirffritz - 04-16-2009 Should have said he is using PowerPoint. I had the same problem a couple of months ago with the memorial presentation I put together for my fiancee's grandmother when she passed away. |
