Order your Dell Mini 9 with Linux.

You'll save money and help save the world from a terrible scourge at the same time:

Death of Linux on netbooks greatly exaggerated

Amen.

And MS fans should do nothing but root for the success of Apple and Linux, from which they steal the majority of their ideas. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

The last time I checked the Dell Outlet for mini 9s there were very few with Linux. Either they get snatched up first or they just don't make that many to start with.

I did the right thing and ordered mine with Linux. However, it is now running Leopard.

I'm willing to give Linux a try, but I can't figure out how to move a few of my favorite Macintosh TrueType fonts over so my PowerPoint presentations can access them. Searches of Ubuntu forums turns up lengthy incomprehensible lines of terminal code that—when finished—will install Arial and Comic Sans. That's not exactly what I was hoping for.

Mr Downtown, sorry to hear you are burdened with PowerPoint presentations. Most of are fortunate not to have this affliction.

I will only buy a computer that is unencumbered by Windows. I specifically bought the Linux Asus Eee PC 901 and a butt load of Macs over the years.

I concur.

On a serious note, I have only intentionally installed one font in all the years I've owned computers. Sure, Canvas came with fonts and I remember when printer driver floppies were loaded with them, but only once have I intentionally sought out a font for install. I suppose I'm just weird.

The only font that I've ever needed to install was a 3of9 Barcode font. It was free. The same file worked for Linux and Windows. Never tried it in OS X.

Article Accelerator, I completely agree with you on this.

But, how many folks here, including those who disparage the Mini 9 cult, think nothing of buying M$ Office or M$ branded keyboards, mice, etc.??

btw, I own no Microsoft products.

Hey, neither do I (well I do have several version of XP installation media, but I never actually purchased those, they came about by scavenging dead computers for their installation media).
