Help with non digital SLR camera please - voodoopenguin - 04-16-2009

Just trying to make some sense of a collection of cameras and lenses prior to selling them off.

The camera is a Nikon EM and it appears to have a Tamron 28mm lens attached. Within the collection is a Nikon Series E 50mm lens which I am assuming is the original lens for the camera being the only Nikon lens. Trouble is, being slightly challenged in these matters I'm not sure if I am removing the Tamron lens as I should. I couldn't see how to take it off the camera body but with a variety of twists and squeezes it came off. Took me several attempts to be able to repeat the process, finally found I had to push in a small piece of metal under the lens. However what now becomes visible is not something that the Nikon lens will attach to. Should more come off or should I be looking for some other piece within the odds and sods I have?

The first picture is the camera.

The second picture is with the lens removed.

And here is what the attaching part of the Nikon lens looks like.

Yes, that is an adaptall lens, which has an interchangable bayonet on the back, which in your picture is still attached to the camera. The small, black button on the RH side (as viewed from the front) should allow you to remove the bayonet and reattach it to the lens.

as Z stated

I thought it should be that black button but when it is pressed the lens still doesn't want to come off. It does allow a degree or two of movement as opposed to rigidly fixed when not pushed but seems to come up against something which prevents it moving any further. Should it allow it to unscrew or pull off or what?

Nikon lenses go on counterclockwise - you turning the right way?

Re: Help with non digital SLR camera please - voodoopenguin - 04-16-2009

I'm turning both ways and no joy.

Reattach the lens to the bayonet on the camera (this may be of some help - http://www.adaptall-2.com/) and then try to remove the lens as a unit.

There is a chance that the release button is broken (very remote possibility), but it should come off if you have a bit more to grip onto. If you have a degree or two of freedom in movement, then the button would appear to work, though.

I've tried with and without the rest of the lens. On closer inspection I can see where it is sticking. When I press the black button I get a few degrees of movement but a black segment of a ring on the lens comes up against the black rectangular bit. You can see the two bits in the photo. It cannot get beyond it and I cannot see how to move either piece.

Can you slide that black piece on the bayonet that is hitting the metal extension that you have the arrow pointing to? I "think" you should be able to, and that may solve your problem. I have a similar lens (35/80 SP Adaptall2), and believe that you can move that piece, though it may not seem like it at first.

It also moves just a degree or two using theblack tab that is next to the letter 'n' in my second photo. Also showing in my last photo to the left of the part I have arrowed. Should that move more than a degree or so?
