B&M or online sources for Dish TV Converter Boxes? - Janit - 04-19-2009 Dish TV is sold out of its lower end converter boxes. Does anyone know who else carries them? The dish TV website is says to check with retailers but doesn't suggest who to try. I like the feature that the converter box itself can be used as a timer to set up for recordings, so that I can set up a 3-hour recording session that switches from one channel to another in the middle. So far I haven't identified another brand that can do this (absent moving up to a DVR recorder, which I don't want to pay for at this time). Thanks Re: B&M or online sources for Dish TV Converter Boxes? - norse - 04-19-2009 Sears and Kmart carries them for $59.95. You'll want to find one with the HIGHEST serial number (on the label outside of box) to get the latest firmware (F106). The firmware is not up-datable. The one I have has the serial number of R1647681365. This has the latest firmware so look for a number larger than this or a little lower. I got a DirecTV DVR that way for $25 shipped. |
