Does anyone have some extra PC3200 512MB or 1GB RAM chips they want to donate to my cause? - mikebw - 04-19-2009

I just installed 10.5 on my G5 dual 2.0, and I would really like to get it sort of maxed out in terms of performance. I was tossing around the idea of replacing it with a newer iMac, but I just can't justify that right now. I installed a new 1TB boot drive and currently am running 4GB of RAM, (4x 256, 2x 512, 2x 1GB). I was thinking if I could take it to 5 or more GB of RAM that would be awesome, and that maybe someone here has an old G5 they aren't using anymore... or not.

I guess it's not that expensive I could probably just buy some. (Tongue)

256MB, and smaller, are "extras" ...512MB's & 1GB's are still coin of the realm.

Yea, with 8 slots you can make use of 256MB that are pretty much free. But I would not expect a big difference between 4 and 5 or 6 GB of ram
