Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - Black - 05-30-2009 I need a few t-shirts for an upcoming event-- ideally they'd be orange and say "security" in block letters across the back-- I'm doing my own search but thought maybe someone here does this for a living and I can keep the money in the forum family. Would need them within about 10 days. Thanks! Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - AlphaDog - 05-31-2009 I thought there was somebody here who did those. And, did you check with dmann? I don't know if she does shirts or not, but it's worth a try. There aren't many people around on the weekends, especially this time of year when the weather is nice. I bet whoever it is that does t-shirts will show up tomorrow or Monday. Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - chopper - 05-31-2009 In Minneapolis I do .... Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - dmann - 05-31-2009 Thanks for the shout-out AD. Yes, I have access to safety yellow and safety orange t-shirts and commercial screen printers, but they usually won't touch jobs of less than 12 shirts (and they really prefer to do 24.) Setting up the screens, accounting for waste and the like becomes an issue at really small quantities. BL- let me know if you get in a jam and I can dig up a local source that may be able to help you. DM Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - Monster - 05-31-2009 Im glad you asked this because I was going to ask the same thing, I want somewhere between 25-50 shirts made. I'm pretty sure I found someone locally but just in case you never know, I also want to have a couple of polo style shirts done with my logo on them, and maybe a few button up shirts with it too. and no, I didn't forget about you dmann, I was also going to ask about those business card size magnets, etc., I guess what I really need is a catalog or websites to go to for prices, it's the quality that I'm here to ask about. Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - dmann - 05-31-2009 Monster- I am guessing you want the polos to be embroidered and the t-shirts to be screened? Charges to keep in mind: Set ups per color and per location for screen printing. Printing on dark shirts costs more than printing on white shirts (often have to be hit more than once to achieve needed opacity/saturation.) Embroidery- digitizing plus stitch count for embroidery. If you do an imprint on the chest and another on the sleeve, you'll pay extra for the 2 locations. You may also be charged for the number of different colors of thread in the logo. Even if you do the same artwork on the polos and the tees, you'll have set up charges on both due to the fact different decorating methods will be used. Business card magnets- this is a promotional product staple and there are many good suppliers in the industry. If you want full color imprinting, your cost and your minimum will be higher than if you want a white background with a 1 or 2 color imprint. Again, your set up charges will depend on the type of printing and/or the number of imprint colors. How it works: You (the consumer) buy from someone called a promotional products consultant (or distributor.) The distributor, in turn, purchases your goods from a promotional products manufacturer. I am a manufacturer's rep, so I can't point you to one catalog or website. Keep in mind, virtually EVERY promotional product distributor buys from the same set of vendors, they do not manufacture the goods themselves. Therefore, the quality depends on the manufacturer chosen, not the distributor you buy from. There are a couple big online outfits (Branders and 4Imprint) who do a fine job, but this is a great opportunity to support a local business. If anyone wants a referral, PM me your location and I'll put you in touch with someone in your area. DM Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - Monster - 05-31-2009 thanks for the info dmann, as it turns out I found out tonight that one of my friends next door neighbors does the same thing as you do and I'm going to try to set up a time with him this week to discuss things. Below is an image of my business card that I would put on the magnet, and I would use the image (drawn by Rick Parker http://www.rickparkerart.com/ http://www.rickparkercomics.blogspot.com/ for me), that i would like to put on the shirts, yes-embroidered on the polos and screened on the shirts. and yes, I keep hearing it's only a matter of time until I get sued for the name.... ![]() Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - Black - 05-31-2009 dmann wrote: 12 would be fine . . . I have a message out to a company that seems to stock basic "security" t's (on the back) for $9.95 and claims to add a logo on the front for ttl $12.95, no mention of setup charge. Will hopefully discuss at a meeting tomorrow. Lots of folks in my sphere of aquaintence who know how to screen print but would rather remove the uncertainty of not knowing whether they can be pinned down to get a screen made in time. I don't suppose there's such a thing as a ready-made "SECURITY" screen to be bought, but I'm off to search now. Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - Kate - 05-31-2009 Check out Queensboro.com I've ordered shirts and jackets from them in the past. Very minimal requirements and all the materials I've received have been of a nice quality. Kate Re: Anyone got a good source for printed t-shirts? - John B. - 05-31-2009 Black - check with your local law enforcement uniform store(s). They probably have piles of t-shirts with "security" printed on them, or can get them quickly. "Security" t-shirts used to be a standard product at Steve & Barry's as well, before they went bankrupt. |
