Which hard drive to upgrade a new MacBook? - h linamen - 08-01-2009

Just got an Apple refurb MacBook 2.0 ghz and want to swap in a larger hard drive probably 320 or 500gb. Two questions: should it be the 5400rpm or 7200? Also OWC has Hiatachi, western digital, samsung, toshiba and seagate. Is one more highly recommended? I see they all have 3 year warranties.

I put a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 gb in my MacBook Pro. Very pleased with the performance.

What RevKev said--comes close to matching or beats the 7200.

Another vote for the 500GB Scorpio Blue. I put one in my MacBook Pro after the 200GB Seagate died yesterday.

I've got a Seagate 7200 RPM 500 Gb in my MacBook.

No complaints so far.

Third vote for the WD Scorpio Blue.
