Seagate 'Cuda 7200 1 TB. Dead. As. A. Hammer. - chopper - 08-12-2009 This must be my 2-3 Seagate in a row to have kicked. For certain it is the second 1 TB 7200 that I have attached to my Charter DVR to have died, and I think the 1 TB in my G5 at the office has been replaced at least once or twice too in the last year. DVR must work those drives hard. Re: Seagate 'Cuda 7200 1 TB. Dead. As. A. Hammer. - Seacrest - 08-12-2009 STOP! Re: Seagate 'Cuda 7200 1 TB. Dead. As. A. Right now I haven't touched drives in a couple of years - seems like if you can get some good ones they will last 3+ years, but many die in about a year. What firmware version were they? If you use the original firmware (1A?) in a 1TB Seagate something like 25%+ would die within a year. Re: Seagate 'Cuda 7200 1 TB. Dead. As. A. Hammer. - Mr645 - 08-14-2009 I used to use Seagate exclusively. But the 7200.11 drives have serious issues. I had 12, out of 19 fail in 6 months. I had 16 1.5 TB models and they began failing in three days and Newegg was helpful in taking back all 16 and replacing them with WD 1 TB Black drives. |
